The extreme party BNP, does it bother you?

A few days ago, the British National Party leader in the BBC's famous program "questions time”.
Ever questioned the nazis jews, muslims and attack the non-white hatred, homosexuality, for violence to defend the ku Klux far-right leader, how can you sit in front of the microphone to BBC?

British national party is legally registered parties. In June this year the European parliament election million votes, took two seats. From the perspective of election, is the most successful in British history of ultra-right parties.
So, what person, why would such a person have the right support?

British national party was established in 1982, its ethnic policies to the extreme, they won the "new fascist" hat. So, today's supporters are state what person? After the election, European YouGov polling agency launched a 32000 people "Britain's biggest election survey". Survey results for national party supporters painted a picture: male, blue, tabloid readers, the traditional Labour supporters.

Obviously, the national party supporters to immigrants as Britain's biggest problem facing, 87% of people included "the most attention is one of the three questions. However, the survey also found that most of the country's supporters to feel pessimistic outlook, uneasy. Only 19% think "in the next few years, my family and I can have a chance to become better days" and Labour voters 59%, conservative voters 42% optimism for the future.

The survey also found that white "second-class citizens in Britain is very complex. National party among voters think, now white was 77 "unfair discrimination". To my amazement, British society general has up to 40 % of the people hold the same view.
They feel neglected and marginalized, feel working-class whites only can be in society became public ridicule, "cruelty" group. "If someone can I speak, a bit of racial discrimination and how?"

In the past few years, the national party in British votes for continuous rise. Griffin in the BBC, critics say after appearance, he revealed the national party ugly face, but also somebody thinks, griffin was apparent gruffness may cause people to him instead of sympathy.

The extreme party BNP, does it bother you?

New Vegetarianism Group

Vegetarianism used to be simple - its protagonists foreswore the flesh of any dead animal. Today there are "veggies" who eat fish, and people who eat no meat but don't call themselves vegetarians.

Kate Sibley is one example of the more complex definitions of vegetarian these days. She was raised mostly as a vegetarian, but given fish for health reasons. She became an orthodox vegetarian at university but then returned to eating fish later. It's now the only meat that she eats.

Her objection is mainly to the way meat is produced, not to the idea of eating an animal. She uses the term "vegetarian" almost for the sake of convenience. If she is dining with people for the first time, it makes things simpler.

It is clear, however, that meat-free and meat-substitute meals make up more and more of what we eat. The marketers and the activists are dealing with new groups of people, known as meat-avoiders and meat-reducers. Outside those who have a clear philosophical platform for eschewing meat, there are increasing numbers of these people, either cutting down on meat or trying not to eat it where possible, but without necessarily ever calling themselves "vegetarian".

Many people will start by giving up red meat for health reasons, then give up white meat, and so on. Despite initially doing it for non-ethical reasons, these people can then take on the philosophical mantle, says Ms Gellatley.

But despite the health messages about certain kinds of meat, and the arguments over the amount of energy it takes to produce meat, the vast majority in the UK still eat meat. And one-fifth, according to Mintel, like to have meat every day.

Media study (3) - how they report postal strike?

23 October, the second 24-hours strike was keep going. The strike was continuing by delivery and collection staff.

TV station had not found a good story so that there were no features showing on screens. BBC website News & Sport search engine shows 5 pieces of news relevance postal news comparing 9 pieces on 21 Oct. The postal workers were insisting the strike, but the media were appearing less and less interest. Breaking news of that day was Second day of postal strike in North Ireland. And then another report said, “CWU has said another strike will start next week and may last three days.” The website is using its strength to report the latest although it is one sentence news. It is still could be report individually or combine with others news. The continuous news keeps readers refresh webpage frequently. It will rise page view of website.

The follow news is Postal strikes delay 40% of mail. It was updated at 22:48 on 23 Oct when newspapers have to report it tomorrow. It was on the floating news at the bottom of the screen. The website reported it at the first time again. The report said, “The nationwide postal workers' strikes have delayed about 30 million letters, some 40% of a typical day's post, Royal Mail has revealed.” The news seems like a consequence of last three days three report. It gives a clear figure of the losing “40% of mail was delayed”. It means Royal mail dominates more than 90% of the letters market. Showing the announcement by Paul Moffett, Communication Workers' Union (CWU) Suffolk regional secretary, with the interview video. Although the Paul Moffett was not give the figure of the backlog, the video places on that page operates on the mind of the audience. The story concludes the strike’s result more besides the mail has delayed no other helpful solution. There is still none of sides reveal to back to table.

At the second part of the article, it gives some statements about how delayed mail affect people’s life. These reports also shows on Daily Mail. At the same time, Daily Mail found a new story One-man postal service gets on his bike. “As a one-man delivery service, he cycles 50 miles every day to keep his growing number of customers satisfied.” Comparing with other general reports, one-man postal service is a new story. It is fresh and unusual when people talking about mails were out of fashion, when others were keeping report the argument.

In conclusion, facing topical news, almost all types of media were trying to remove their all resource to report a whole latest unusual news story. The media give prominent news a front page or the first news in TV program. To different with others, some media invite expert to analyze the affairs. Another good way is publish appalling pictures or videos. However, in my opinion although they were using attractive method, the most important one should the angle of the report. The angle could be separated into two parts.

Firstly, it is how you treat the story. As mentioned before, I found good stories. First one is on 21 October from BBC website. The story was separated into different part and was updated. The website might be the only media could treat a story like that. The second one is Daily Mail’s story. I choose it because it is unusual. Many readers of Daily Mail are work class. They probably read this story on their way home, on train or bus. The deep analysis cannot catch their attention. They are looking for easy stories. One-man postal service fit their taste.

The Second one is the nature of report. You cannot treat story in bulletin. There is no time for extend. You also cannot fabricate a story from short interview. My point is that choose a correct channel for good stories, like BBC interviewed experts on line and objective analysis for newspaper. Mix these two elements together, a good report was born.

Media study (2) - how they report postal strike?

22 October, the postal strike started in the morning.

BBC kept following the strike’s operation. Correspondents reported the situation of the strike from all parts of the UK. TV is the best way of broadcast movements, because the lively pictures give audiences vision impact. BBC News at One interviewed Divisional Managing Director of TNT Express Stuart Stobie in Warwickshire, to explain how the strike affects TNT. Meanwhile, the journalist in Manchester went into a stamp shop to find out the affection of their business by the strike. Different interviewees bring clearer report angle and keep following the walkout. It fits the taste of mass audiences not the politics or business man. During the report, at the bottom of the screen, the floating news was keeping update.

At night, BBC Two program Newsnight broadcasted a short video. It combines footage of the strike with interviews of Royal Mail postal workers who were not join in the strike. One of them said he worked at that day because he has to pay bills, children’s tuition. If he worked at that day, he would get that day’s money. Very simple answer, no theories, no slogan, but it moves audiences. I think his answer is the real reason of strike.
The website has less advantage of following the strike, although it is BBC official website that could broadcast the video of strike legally. (Nowadays people prefer to visit YouTube for footage taken on a mobile phone.) Therefore, the BBC website turns to report the background of Royal Mail strike in history and gives analysis. News: Origins of the Royal Mail Strike was updated at 12:19. It said, “In 2007, the last national postal strike ended after both sides signed a 14-page agreement…” The website uses its unlimited pages give a clear reason of the strike though reviewing the walkout in 2007. And then, the website analyzed, “the great prize of replacing confrontation with trust between the two sides, seems as far away as ever.”

This objective analysis was proofed by the following news. The website concludes people’s attitude and wrote Postal strike divides commentators. It gives the different voices of commentators. “In the Guardian, Seumas Milne says ‘back in the real world, postal workers might have been thought foolish…’” A former postal worker, Mick Hume said, “…Postal workers deserve better than that.” When the strike was continuing, the website not only updated the latest news, but also looked forward new angles of the story. It might attract more audiences than TV station. On the other hand, the website sets a page for comments named Have you say? including subtitles, such as How is the strike affecting you? and Postal workers views. Just 22 Oct, thousands people made comments on BBC website. It is a peak in three days. Vox pops is keeping the affairs hot.

It is no doubt that the leader of BNP instead postal strike covers the front page of The Times. However, I was little surprised that the story of strike was arranged on page 8. Newspaper is always the slowest one during operating affairs. The other way round, an adequate amount of times give journalists enough time to thinking. The reports of strike on The Times gives a link that point to page 23. It recommends readers to turn to their comments part. Ann Treneman criticized the condemnations between Gordon Brown and David Cameron. She combines the argument with a former story about Parliament’s favorite biscuits. It is more interesting than a political story. Another link of the story is letters to editor. The editor collected two letters and published. This old communication method to show Vox pops seems a bit out of time.

Media study (1) - how they report postal strike?

21 October is the former day of postal strike.

The media was focus on the benefits and the drawbacks of postal strike. The media invited experts to persuade CWU cancel the strike and to analysis the situation. Especially TV station, during their hourly news and other news programs, the presenter connected the expert and Communication Workers Union to attend the online interview. Such as, Royal Mail's Operations Director Paul Tolhurs, David Ward of the Communication Workers Union and so on. Their statements were the focus of that day. The CWU and Royal Mail both try their best to make announcements clearly and correctly. They choose TV station broadcast their position. TV stations use the interview to satisfy the attention of mass. Their arguments went on all day long and no sight shown that will stop. However, the airtime is limited. TV programs were finished during their condemnation. Nearly all reports have no difference and no interaction. They bored audiences. These reports put audiences aside. They don’t aroused audiences.

Besides of these normal reports, I found a significative report updated at 17:40 on BBC website named leaders clash over postal dispute. In my view, it seems an end of long day dispute: if no one took the responsibility to organize a peaceful dispute, the strike would keep on. It broadcasts the condemnation between Gordon Brown and David Cameron at first. It said, “CWU leader Billy Hayes accused Business Secretary Lord Mandelson of working hand in hand with Royal Mail management to sabotage the talks and called him the ‘minister without responsibility’”. The report also gives analysis of the situation. The strength of website is that gives a report more space to imagine even predicate. The nature of report could be an only prognosticate or come former reporter together. Although the predication may not precise, it could attract more audiences. The second benefits of website is the speed of news update. The updated time of this report was the period that all newspapers were placed on the shelf of store and TV station were showing animation and soap opera.

Fortunately, like a respond of former report about condemnation, the CWU said later that day, “a nationwide postal strike will go ahead on Thursday and Friday.” “Dave Ward, CWU: ‘There are external forces… attempting to undermine talks.’” This news was updated at 21:30 on that day. The website integrates an individual breaking news into a full story. Comparing with short news, a full story is more attractive and impressive. About the strike, continuous arguments were losing audiences. The updated news were lack of juicy story. On the other hand, the amount of airtime is limited on TV program. They have no time to tell a whole story. However, the space of the web pages could allow the story to extend. Meanwhile, the website gives useful links relevant the story, such as ‘Royal Mail’s future’ links latest news, background and analysis links expert’s comment. It makes stories luxuriant.

Turn to newspaper’s competition, The highlight of The Lite’s front page is Fears for pig flu patients in post strike; Health chief’s alert over jabs for the at-risk Post strike “bad timing” for vital swine flu jabs. The report gives audiences a new angle about the affect of postal strike. The strike was not only related postal workers, also affects their life. Affecting vaccinations of swine flu is a vivid sample that showing a typical vital package which can not delay. At that time some other TV stations, newspapers or websites focused on how to solve the problem if letters or parcels was delay, their solutions such as online paying or change postal company is useful but not attractive. However, the news of the vaccination was delayed still need to be justified, but the highlight indeed caught people’s eyes.

China is exploring oil all over the world

China is planning to buy as much of the world’s oil as it can.

Sinochem, the Chinese government-controlled oil group, had offered £532m for Emerald Energy, the FTSE 250-listed oil explorer with fields in Syria and Colombia. For Emerald’s founders it meant a multi-million pound payday.

But as the Times newspaper puts it 7th October, the fact that China is becoming a leading actor of natural resource show. The movement will break the balance of Obama’s political leverage. He needs to get momentum for a deal in the US.

Tom Grieder, analyst at IHS Global Insight, said: “The scale of what it has done so far has been breathtaking.”

“The centre of gravity in the energy industry is shifting east,” said Philip Lambert of Lambert Energy, a consultancy. “They know what 1.4 billion people need so they have a clear idea of where they think the oil and gas prices are going.”

Following with the continual fuel store, China, which has just overtaken the US as the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases.

If left unchecked, within 25 years emissions from China will be double those of the combined output of the US, EU, Japan and all other industrialized nations, said Fatih Birol, chief economist of the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The paper said. “In a calculated move, China stole the show at yesterday’s special United Nations summit on climate change with plans to pour billions of dollars into energy-saving technology and nuclear power.”

Compare the benefits and drawbacks, what is certain is that China is fast outgrowing its own limited resources and has given a mandate to its companies to buy them elsewhere.

British Airways is losing money

British Airways said it will cut 1,700 jobs and plans to introduce a two-year pay freeze for cabin crew and this transformation would take effect from the end of November.

A spokesman for British Airways said, "Revenues are down, so we must reduce costs and restore profitability," The airline also said the job cuts would involve 1,000 cabin crew taking voluntary redundancy and a further 3,000 choosing to go part-time.

Airlines all over the world are struggling due to the fall in the numbers of passengers. British Airways is losing money

The airline has been in negotiations with unions about the best way to cut staff costs.

The Unite union criticised the cuts and warned BA staff in an email that "you can rest assured it won't be the last [job cuts]."
